Johnson, Bell headline top 125 fantasy football playmakers

Sports Hub Technologies, in concert with partner LeagueSafe.com, offers a sneak peek into fantasy football’s top 125 playmakers for the 2017 season (kickers and defense excluded) — citing standard-scoring leagues only.

Now for the caveat: This listing predates the mandatory mini-camps for every NFL team, along with summertime training camp, meaning injuries can and will affect the rankings on a month-to-month basis.

For the time being, though, there’s a modest foundation of certainty listed below, especially at the top of the draft. Remember last year’s fad of taking the Big Three receivers (Antonio Brown, Julio Jones, Odell Beckham Jr.) or tight end Rob Gronkowski in the first four slots, ahead of stud backs like Le’Veon Bell, Ezekiel Elliott, LeSean McCoy or David Johnson (this year’s top selection)?

On paper, it seemed like a good idea. But let’s remember the two golden rules of drafting in standard-scoring leagues: Always let value into your lap … and running backs make the fantasy world go ’round.
